Denim Day
Apr. 29 (all day long)

Wear jeans on purpose, with purpose!

Denim Day is observed each April to raise awareness about sexual assault and violence.

The campaign began in Italy in 1999 after the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction, stating the victim’s tight jeans implied consent. In protest, women in the Italian Parliament wore jeans to work in solidarity with the survivor.

Since then, Denim Day has become a global movement challenging victim-blaming and showing support for survivors.

On Denim Day, wear jeans on purpose, with purpose. Stand with survivors and support sexual assault prevention and education in our community.

Open to civilian personnel. Please confirm with your supervisor that jeans are permitted attire on this day.
