CSACC Red Ribbon Campaign
RED RIBBON CAMPAIGN
By: Consolidated Substance Abuse Counseling Center (CSACC)
Red Ribbon Week is the celebration of drug abuse prevention and education in military services. Red Ribbon
Week honors the memory of Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent and former Marine, Enrique S.
Camarena, who was murdered by drug traffickers in 1985. In 1988, the U.S. Congress proclaimed a “Red Ribbon Week” aimed at showing intolerance for drugs in our schools, workplaces, and communities. His sacrifice is recognized by passing out red ribbons with a slogan and theme about a drug free life.
This year’s theme is “Celebrate Life. Live Drug Free.”
